Junk Walkers

Planeswalkers have lent themselves to interesting strategies ever since they were printed. They have such a unique impact on the game and survive so many sweepers that there are a lot of ways to abuse them. One of the popular strategies for Planeswalkers has always been to team a bunch of them up and try to get multiple going at the same time. Each Planeswalker has an ability that profits something equal to a card each turn, so when multiple walkers are activating every turn, things can get out of hand. We have seen a little bit of Esper Walkers from time to time, but nothing with green in it...

Ajani, Caller of the Pride

Of course, someone had to change that, and Tacks decided to be that person. Putting up a perfect record in a recent Daily Event on Magic Online, Tacks decided to make sure green got its dues. But first, a walker list wouldn't be anything without walkers. Tacks has a package that includes Ajani, Caller of the Pride; Garruk Relentless; and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad. None of them appear in particularly high numbers, but that is because Tacks had to make room for all kinds of nuts and bolts that really give this deck a unique feel.

Harmless cards like Elvish Visionary, which will usually just draw a card and chump block something, become a lot scarier when Sun Titan begins returning it each turn or Ajani starts ticking up its size. Other synergies push the deck over the top in the late game as well. Restoration Angel plus Thragtusk can be just dirty in most situations. Mortarpod turns most of your walkers into machine guns, adding to the versatility of them even further. This deck can do a little bit of just about everything, making it an awesome pick for a more open metagame like Friday Night Magic. Because honestly, how long do you think they could really keep Garruk away from the party?
