Overpopulation

It's Selesyna Week here on DailyMTG.com, and around the Magic universe, many authors and websites have taken on the theme. So, despite my reputation of going against the crowd, I figured a few nods to Selesyna were appropriate. Luckily, with the release of Return to Ravnica comes the release of a whole new batch of legendary creatures. More legendary creatures means more opportunities for more Commander decks! So, lets get into the swing of things here at Daily Decks with a look into the Trostani, Selesnya's Voice.

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice

This week's list comes to us courtesy of Bennie Smith over at StarCityGames.com. Bennie decided to stay on theme this week and tackled his take on a Selesyna Commander list with Trostani, Selesyna's Voice at the helm. Green-white naturally has a lot of Commander mainstays you get to show off with any Selesnya deck you might be interested in. Cards like Harmonize are just good cards to have access to. Other cards in this department include things like Acidic Slime, Path to Exile, and Eternal Witness. But beyond just the good cards, finding a theme for your Commander deck is where much of the fun lies. Luckily, with a general like Trostani, we can probably figure out what direction we need to go in.

Bennie knows and jammed a bunch of awesome token makers into the deck as a result. If you want one-shot token making, we've got it. Armada Wurm, Bestial Menace, and Selesnya Charm all give you the instant gratification of a token in play, ready to be populated. Or you can turn to a more sustained token generating approach. Cards like Jade Mage, Hornet Queen, and Thraben Doomsayer all help to ensure you have enough tokens to turn on all of the tokens-matter cards still in your deck. And where would tokens be without a way to get them angry and more powerful? Collective Blessing, Gavony Township, and Eldrazi Monument, among others, turn all of your 1/1 Insects, Squirrels, and Saprolings into Beasts with an attitude. Selesnya definitely believes in strength in numbers and this list delivers. For a full breakdown of Bennie's list, check out his article on the subject here.
