Born in Jerusalem, Shahar travels around the globe playing the game he fell in love with as a child. To many, he's a world champion who never flinches under pressure. But to his family, he's a brother, a son, a loved one.

PATRICK CHAPIN
Patrick is one of Magic’s biggest, most outspoken personalities. He’s called “The Innovator” for his prodigious ability to build Magic decks, but the people close to him will tell you that his creativity goes beyond the cards on the table.

CHRIS PIKULA
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Chris had a reputation as one of the game’s most upstanding players. Now a family man, Chris is no longer qualified to play on the Pro Tour. Many years after his prime, his competitive fire has rekindled.

MELISSA DETORA
Known for her unreadable poker face and intense focus at the table, Melissa is a one-of-a-kind Magic player. A Pro Tour veteran with many years under her belt, Melissa's finest hour came at Pro Tour Gatecrash in 2013, where she made Magic history.

WILLIAM JENSEN
As a stalwart veteran, William—also known as Huey—now acts as a mentor and friend to two of the game’s young stars: Owen and Reid. To honor their bond of brotherhood, they've named themselves after an ancient Chinese legend: The Peach Garden Oath.

OWEN TURTENWALD
What started as hobby in a Wisconsin comic book store became an unrelenting passion for Owen. Considered one of Magic’s most skilled players, his thirst for victory has not been quenched, as he strives to win alongside his friends, Huey and Reid.

REID DUKE
Whether he's crafting jewelry or playing in the World Championship, Reid sees excellence as a meticulous commitment to the details. Reid has experienced highs and lows on the Magic Pro Tour alongside two of his closest friends: Owen and Huey.

ABOUT THE CREATORS
Nathan Holt is a Philadelphia-based producer, writer, actor, and comedian. With a background in theater, Holt has starred in productions by such companies as The Walnut Street Theatre, The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, Brat Productions, and many more. Short film credits include Maybe Pittsburgh, Poe Unearthed, and The Cat People of Venice. He is the author of two dramatic plays: Like, You're My Friend and All and Take Care Ted, both produced at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C.
Shawn Kornhauser has been making films and videos since 2002. His main focus has been creating documentary films profiling the various folk musicians and outsider artists he has met while living in Philadelphia, his home for the past ten years.
Kornhauser started covering the Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour in 2011 when he and his video partner, Holt, produced a short video covering Pro Tour Philadelphia, a project that eventually led to the production of the Magic web series, Walking the Planes, which began in early 2012. Enter the Battlefield marks Holt and Kornhauser’s first full-length feature documentary, an achievement that would not be possible without the help of countless friends and collaborators.
