Overview

Bring your top strategies with you to a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, and you may be one of the few to emerge from the event with an invitation and airfare to Pro Tour Amonkhet!

Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers (RPTQs) for Pro Tour Amonkhet take place February 25-26, 2017 and March 4-5, 2017.

The Top 4 finishers of a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier receive airfare and invitations to Pro Tour Amonkhet, while 1st- through 8th-place finishers receive invitations to the next round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers.

Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers will take place on March 4, 2017 and March 11, 2017. If you are interested in competing in a Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, you will need to let us know before Wednesday, the weekend of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier that you'd like to compete. Details can be found further down on this page.

The format for this Regional Pro Tour Qualifier season is Standard Constructed.

As a reminder, players are only allowed to compete in one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier if they are qualified to play in one.

INVITED PLAYERS

Qualification

Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers are an invitation-only event. An invitation to participate in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour Amonkhet is offered to the following:

  • Players with a Pro Tour Players Club Silver level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
  • Players that won a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier from October 15, 2016 to January 8, 2017.
  • Players that finished 1st- through 8th-place at a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • Players that won a Regional Last Chance Qualifier that ties to that Regional Pro Tour Qualifier.

Eligibility

The following players may not compete in Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers for Pro Tour Amonkhet:

  • Players that previously participated in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier which awards an invitation to Pro Tour Amonkhet.
  • Players that won a Magic Online Pro Tour Qualifier Final which awards an invitation to Pro Tour Amonkhet.
  • Players that won a Magic Online Championship Series (MOCS) Playoff tournament which awards invitations to Pro Tour Amonkhet.
  • Players that finished in the Top 8 or finished with 39 or more match points in an individual-format Grand Prix which awards invitations to Pro Tour Amonkhet.
  • Players that finished in the Top 4 or finished with 36 or more match points in a team-format Grand Prix which awards invitations to Pro Tour Amonkhet.
  • Players that finished with 33 or more match points at Pro Tour Aether Revolt.
  • Players with a Pro Tour Players Club Gold or Platinum level (as of the date of the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier).
  • Players that are members of the Pro Tour Hall of Fame.
  • Players that are otherwise already qualified for Pro Tour Amonkhet.

General Information

Prizes

The Top 4 of each Regional receive an invitation and travel award* to Pro Tour Amonkhet.

The Top 16 players in each Regional PTQ will receive a Regional PTQ playmat.

Booster Prizes will be awarded as follows:

*Travel

The players eligible to receive a travel award will receive instructions from Wizards of the Coast regarding whom they must contact and the deadline by which they must arrange their travel awards. Wizards of the Coast will not refund travel made outside this service. Wizards of the Coast reserves the right to award a cash equivalent award in lieu of any travel award in its sole discretion.

All travel itineraries must be from the international airport nearest the player's home and to the host city of the Pro Tour, and must include all the dates of that event. No award will be substituted if member is unable to participate. All other expenses are the responsibility of the member and may include, without limitation, accommodations, ground transportation, taxes, itinerary change fees, passport and visa fees.

This award must be redeemed through member's arrangement of travel itinerary no later than (30) days before departure. Failure to complete travel arrangements as directed by Wizards of the Coast prior to this deadline will result in forfeiture of the award. Every member receiving a travel award must provide to Wizards of the Coast an executed liability release, the appropriate US taxation form (W9 or W8) (or have one on file), up-to-date contact information on your DCI membership, and proof of ID and passport (when required by international destination). In all cases, all such documentation must be provided to Wizards of the Coast, or must have been previously on file, at least thirty (30) days before departure. Failure to timely provide such documentation will result in forfeiture of the award.

Players under the age of eighteen (18) at the time of the Pro Tour will receive a cash equivalent award in lieu of expenses, paid air ticket, and/or hotel accommodations. Such player must still attend, compete, and be listed in the finish of the tournament or forfeit this award.

Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers

The round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers taking place between March 4 and March 11, 2017 will have two Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers in which qualified players may participate. The first will take place on March 4 at 2 p.m. PT, and the second one will take place March 11 at 5 a.m. PT.

To register for a Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, a player who is qualified to compete in that round of Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers must send an email to PremierPlay@wizards.com with the following elements:

  • The title of the email should be "Magic Online RPTQ."

The email should include your DCI number, Magic Online username, and the date of the Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifier that you wish to participate in.

The deadlines to register are:

  • Wednesday, March 1 at 11:59 PM PT (for the March 4 tournament)
  • Wednesday, March 8 at 11:59 PM PT (for the March 11 tournament)

Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers will be capped at 212 players, so sign up early if you intend to play.

The Top 8 players will receive invitations to compete in Pro Tour Amonkhet, as well as an invitation to play in the Pro Tour Challenge event at that Pro Tour.

The format for these Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers is Standard Constructed.

As a reminder, if you play in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier during a qualifying round, you cannot play in any other Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers during that qualifying round, including Magic Online Regional Pro Tour Qualifiers. Your invitation to compete in a Regional Pro Tour Qualifier only lets you compete in one Regional Pro Tour Qualifier.
