Announcing September MOPR Promos

The September MOPR period runs from August 31, 2016, through September 28, 2016. Here are the promo cards:

Identity Thief

Play in one or more events during the MOPR period, and you'll get a non-premium Flaying Tendrils. Five or more and you'll get an additional premium Flaying Tendrils. Spend at least $20 total in the Magic Online Store during this MOPR period, and you'll get a non-premium Identity Thief. By spending $40 or more, you'll get an additional, premium, Identity Thief.

And remember, this means it's your last chance to get the August MOPR promos, like this Angel of Deliverance.

Prize Change for the Upcoming August 21 MOCS Monthly Event

Due to the attendance in limited MOCS Monthly events exceeding expectations, we are issuing a one-time increase in prizes for the last limited MOCS Monthly of the current year. You can see the new prize structure below. Please note that these prize changes apply only to the August 21 MOCS Monthly event. This event is the last opportunity to use you Qualifier Points in a limited MOCS Monthly. Also, this event is capped at 1,024 players. Please register early if you intend to play, as we expect this event to fill to capacity.

Start Times: Sunday, August 21, 7:00 a.m. All times are Pacific Standard Time (for UTC, add 7 hours).
Location: Play Lobby -> Limited Tournaments -> Scheduled
Entry Option: 35 Qualifier Points
Product: Magic Online will provide product for Limited Events.

Play Style: Swiss
Format: Shadows over Innistrad-Eldritch Moon Sealed, follwed by a Top 8 Draft
Duration: A number of Swiss rounds based on attendance, each round up to 50 minutes, followed by a cut to Top 8.

Pro Tour Gauntlet Events End Tomorrow

The Pro Tour Gauntlet is only here until August 17, so try out decks from Pro Tour Eldritch Moon while the events are still around!

The Year of Modern Flashbacks Returns August 17, with Triple Zendikar

It's 2016: The Year of Modern Flashbacks! If you want to build up a collection for Modern, these Flashback Drafts add everything you draft to you collection once the event is over. Even if Modern isn't your thing, you can enjoy a leisurely Draft through the planes of the past with rotating formats each week!

Upcoming Extended Downtime on Wednesday, August 24

There will be an extended downtime on Wednesday, August 24, for Magic Online. Events close at 12:00 a.m. PT/7 a.m. UTC (that's midnight Pacific), and store activity and trades end at 2:45 a.m. leading up to the system coming down at 3:00 a.m. The system is estimated to return from downtime at 12:00 p.m.

  • All tournaments will close Wednesday, August 17, at 5:00 a.m. PT/12 p.m. UTC
  • Store and trade activity will be suspended at approximately 7:45 a.m. PT/2:45 p.m. UTC
  • The system will be down from 8:00 a.m./3 p.m. UTC until 12:00 p.m. PT/7 p.m. UTC

Build Notes for Deployment, Beginning 8:00 a.m./3:00 p.m. UTC (Occurs During Downtime)

Gameplay

  • Cardset | Cards such as Oath of Nissa, Ancient Stirrings, and Peer Through Depths, that have a player reveal one of a small number of cards from the top of their library, once again put the revealed card into the Revealed Cards area.
  • Cardset | Bloodhall Priest's ability will correctly trigger if it enters the battlefield during an opponent's turn.
  • Cardset | Mirrorwing Dragon no longer occasionally creates spell copies controlled by an incorrect player.
  • Cardset | The delirium counter in a player’s graveyard will now correctly persist for the duration of the game once it appears, even if a player no longer has any delirium cards on the battlefield, in the graveyard, or in exile.
  • Cardset | Slayer’s Cleaver no longer forces non-Eldrazi creatures to block the equipped creature.
  • Cardset | Flames of the Blood Hand now deals the correct amount of damage.
  • Cardset | Text displayed during the resolution of a spell or ability that requires its controller to reveal a card from the top of their library, such as Vessel of Nascency, has been fixed.
  • Cardset | An issue causing green highlighting to persist after resolving a spell or ability that involves selecting a card in the graveyard, such as Corpse Churn, has been resolved.
  • Cardset | Double-faced and meld cards are now showing related cards correctly in zoom view.
  • Cardset | Gisa and Geralf no longer prevents the use of Karador, Ghost Chieftain's ability.
  • Cardset | Meld cards can no longer be incorrectly turned face down.
  • Cardset | Spells that exile a permanent until end of turn now correctly return both cards of a melded permanent.
  • Cardset | Copies of planeswalkers no longer display a copy icon overlapping their loyalty counters.
  • Cardset | Eldrazi Scion tokens now display the proper art, mana symbol, and card frame.
  • Cardset | Rite of Flame once again adds the correct amount of mana to the controller's mana pool.
  • Duel Scene | Planeswalkers with four abilities now correctly display all four while in a player’s hand.

Client

  • Duel Scene | A rare issue where players would sometimes be paired incorrectly in tournaments has been fixed.
  • General | Sort by Rarity once again works as intended in draft, deckbuilding, sideboarding, and the Collection Scene.

Build Notes for Hotfix, Occuring at Approximately 2:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. UTC (No Player-Facing Downtime)

Following tomorrow’s downtime, at 2:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. UTC, there will be a new client build deployed to address the below issues. In order to get the new version, players will need to restart their client. This hotfix deployment will not impact server connectivity.

  • Duel Scene | Fixed an issue where players could get two Duel Scene windows when re-joining a League match in progress
  • Duel Scene | Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in the sideboard when re-joining a League match in progress
