The Basic Lands of Shadows over Innistrad

Blake is the content manager for, making him the one you should email if you have thoughts on the website, good or less good (or not good). He's a longtime coverage reporter and hasn't turned down a game of Magic in any format ever.

In our time-honored tradition—which neither is honored nor has it been going on that long—we're showing the basic lands of the new set on the second Monday of previews.

Basic lands don't require a whole lot of introduction for new sets, so I won't dawdle. Instead, I'll just list a bunch of adjectives that describe the lands: spooky, eerie, foreboding, frightening, gloomy, scary, and placid.

Also, I'll give you one taste of the larger art from my favorite basic land in this set—Swamp #290 by Jung Park.
