Hello everyone! My name is Melissa DeTora, a former Pro Tour player who now works in Magic R&D on the Development Team. I'm getting used to my new role here at Wizards and I'm looking forward to taking over the Daily Deck column.

Today's deck is Temur Aggro piloted by Andry Nacci to a 3rd place finish at the StarCityGames Open in Syracuse. I found this deck exciting because when I first started at Wizards I learned that Temur was one of the top FFL decks in Theros-Khans Standard. It was interesting to hear how well it was performing for the developers back when they were testing it…when in the real world it was no better than tier 2.

The Temur Aggro deck is relatively simple. It plays the biggest creatures it can for as little mana as possible. Frost Walker, Boon Satyr, and Savage Knuckleblade are a few examples of huge creatures with low converted mana costs in this deck. We also have plenty of creatures with evasion, and burn spells to finish off the opponent.

Andy's deck plays one of my favorite new cards from Dragons of Tarkir, Thunderbreak Regent. When I first saw this guy, back when I started working at Wizards, I was pretty impressed. As a 4/4 flyer for only four mana, it's a pretty good deal on its own. And in this deck it can come down as early as turn three. Thunderbreak Regent works pretty well with a lot of other creatures in the deck. Other Dragons become very painful for the opponent to remove from the battlefield with a Regent in play; and Surrak, the Hunt Caller can give it haste. Overall, it's a great addition to the Temur archetype, and it's no surprise that this deck performed as well as it did.
