Khans of Tarkir is coming to Standard! Three-color wedges are about to make their way into Standard, but by no means will they be new to tournament Magic. This week, we will look at Pro Tour–winning decks that have been based in one of the wedges from Khans of Tarkir.

Today's deck belongs to none other than 2007 World Champion, Uri Peleg. His Abzan deck took advantage of Doran, the Siege Tower, which is one of the few tournament-caliber wedge cards that existed prior to Khans of Tarkir. To support Doran, Uri played accelerants in Birds of Paradise and Llanowar Elves. After that, Uri let his fake 5/5 do the majority of the work.

You might see some familiar faces in this deck, as many of its cards are currently Standard legal! Llanowar Elves has gotten a facelift and become Elvish Mystic, while Thoughtseize; Liliana Vess; and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth are cards that are again Standard legal. When building your Abzan decks, perhaps you can learn a thing or two from a World Champion!
