In a Block Constructed Pro Tour, many strategies that are powerful at the Pro Tour shape the future of Standard. With access to a smaller card pool, deck builders for Block Constructed are forced to find new ways to do solve problems. Much of the time, these restrictions can breed innovation.

Prognostic SphinxStu Somers's finished in 12th place at Pro Tour Journey into Nyx with an Esper Control deck that is strategically similar to Esper Control in Standard. However, there are many cards in Stu's deck that might have a place in Standard. Prognostic Sphinx was one of the big winners of the Pro Tour as a finisher that is extremely difficult to kill. It lines up especially well with Elspeth, Sun's Champion, another card that made big waves in Block Constructed. Stu used these cards as a one-two punch to help him in Theros Block Constructed.
