An Old Favorite

Ok, so maybe "favorite" isn't the right word.

I'm once against featuring Patrick Chapin's decklist this week, since he did an amazing job cranking out decklists for Born of the Gods Standard. One of his lists was a Bant Hexproof redux, although this version looks much fairer than previous versions with Invisible Stalker and Geist of Saint Traft. Instead, this deck features Witchstalker and Ascended Lawmage.

As it turns out, even when Bant Hexproof isn't fully powered, it's still pretty good. Decks like Mono-Blue Devotion are largely about racing, and that's tough to do against a hexproof Baneslayer Angel. Supreme Verdict is an issue, but Voice of Resurgence, Eidolon of Countless Battles, and Mending Touch in the sideboard help fight it.

There is not a lot of hate, which is understandable considering Bant Hexproof isn't on the radar. Also, Mono-Black Devotion will likely cut Devour Fleshes for Bile Blights, which makes things a little easier. I'm not sure about the validity of Bant Hexproof in Standard, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made a splash.
