Welcome to Magic Online Week! This week on Daily Decks, we'll be looking at some of the top decks on Magic Online. Today's deck is a Pauper deck. While Pauper is played here and there in paper, the format really took off on Magic Online for its accessibility and ease of play. In Pauper, every card in your deck must be a common. It could have been printed at a higher rarity at some point, but as long as it was printed as a common in a Magic Online set, it's legal in Pauper.

Magic Online-user Redler piloted this deck to a 3-0 finish in the most recent Pauper Daily Event. This is a disruptive mono-blue aggro deck, or a deck that looks to cast early creatures and then use counterspells or other disruption to stop the opponent from developing their game plan.

As you can see from the decklist, many of the creatures can be cast for little or no mana. Cloud of Faeries allows you to untap lands, giving you access to Counterspell or Deprive in the same turn. Spire Golem can just be placed on the battlefield if you have six Islands in play, and Ninja of the Deep Hours can be snuck onto the battlefield at the cost of returning an unblocked creature to your hand. If that creature happens to be a Spellstutter Sprite, you have another chance to counter your opponent's spell.

This deck also plays a variety of card-draw and library-manipulation spells. Preordain and Ponder are so efficient at finding what you need that they've been banned in the Modern format for being too strong. Gush, once restricted in Vintage and banned in Legacy, is a card-draw spell that is essentially free. In a deck with only eighteen lands, returning two Islands to your hand is often not a downside, as you can replay one of them to get ahead on mana.

This Pauper deck is a blast to play, and congratulations to Redler for going undefeated in the Daily!
