The Pyromaster Returns

From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

With each core set, exciting reprints are unleashed onto the Standard environment. Magic 2015 continues this tradition, with many cards that have tournament pedigree. This week, Daily Decks has looked at these cards and the successful tournament decks that allowed these cards to shine in the spotlight.

Today's card is a card you probably recognize. In fact, it was first printed just last year! However, it didn't take long for Chandra, Pyromaster to start lighting the tournament scene on fire. Reid Duke went into Grand Prix Detroit with a Jund deck that needed some additional sources of card advantage and turned to Chandra, Pyromaster as a way to draw extra cards.

While a reprint of an already-Standard-Legal card doesn't change anything immediately, it will become more important once Magic 2014 rotates out in a few short months. While Standard will say farewell to Ajani, Caller of the Pride; Garruk, Caller of Beasts; and many of the cards in Magic 2014, Chandra, Pyromaster can continue to set things on fire.

Top 8 decklists for this event can be found here. Note: Deathrite Shaman is no longer Modern Legal.
