From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

With each core set, exciting reprints are unleashed onto the Standard environment. Magic 2015 continues this tradition, with many cards that have tournament pedigree. This week, Daily Decks will look at these cards, and the successful tournament decks that allowed these cards to shine in the spotlight.

Today's deck is from more than a decade ago, because the card involved has not been printed in over ten years! Wall of Mulch, welcome to Modern! Back at Pro Tour Venice in 2003, Hall of Famer William Jensen made the semifinals with a very unexpected deck. Jensen's deck was built on the back of green ramp spells in Wirewood Elf and Explosive Vegetation paired with expensive and powerful white spells such as Akroma's Vengeance and Akroma, Angel of Wrath, herself.

With aggressive Goblins running all over Onslaught Block Constructed, Jensen needed something to defend himself while ramping up to more powerful cards and turned to Wall of Mulch. The beauty of Wall of Mulch is that it did not hurt his matchup against other slow decks. William would simply have the Wall of Mulch replace itself so he could draw more impactful cards in the matchup. In Magic 2015, Wall of Mulch is back to provide some solid defense against aggressive decks while not being a dead draw against decks that can ignore an 0/4 defender.
