A Ruthless Pro Tour deck

Khans of Tarkir is coming! Three-color wedges are about to make their way into Standard and every other Constructed format, but by no means will they be new to tournament Magic. This week, we will look at Pro Tour–winning decks that have been based in one of the wedge clans from Khans of Tarkir.

Today's deck is from Justin Gary, who won Pro Tour Houston in 2002. If you recognize Justin's name, it is probably because he is on the Pro Tour Hall of Fame ballot or because you noticed the designer credit on Spirit Bonds from Magic 2015.

Justin's deck is based around one of the most powerful cards ever, Oath of Druids. If your opponent so much as decided to play a creature, Justin's battlefield might shortly contain an Oath of Druids and a Cognivore, backed by a huge graveyard. If the opponent was not playing creatures, Justin's deck played like a classic blue deck full of counterspells and card drawing. In fact, the only removal spell in Justin's main deck was Pernicious Deed, because Oath of Druids made it such a bad idea to play creatures.
