Kiora, Master of the Depths is one of my favorite cards to come out of Battle for Zendikar. This planeswalker does so much in this format. While my favorite thing to do with it is gain two mana by untapping a land and a Rattleclaw Mystic, getting an extra Jace, Vryn's Prodigy activation is pretty sweet too.

Today's deck is a Temur deck that utilizes Kiora, Master of the Depths to her fullest potential. Not only do we have the aforementioned Rattleclaw Mystic and Jace in the deck, but there are also a lot of ways to utilize Kiora's minus ability. Kiora is great at filling up your graveyard, which makes delve spells such as Murderous Cut and Tasigur, the Golden Fang much stronger. Milling a Deathmist Raptor into your graveyard off of Kiora is also awesome, as you have eight morph creatures to get it back. Finally, Kolaghan's Command can not only get back something that Kiora put into your graveyard, but it can also kill a creature or force your opponent to discard a card. That's a lot for a three-mana instant.

One thing that I never liked about Temur decks was that it was really hard to gain card advantage with them. The creatures were either mana creatures or large creatures to ramp into, and while your creatures were usually more powerful than your opponent's, once all of your creatures were dealt with you really didn't have many things to do. The addition of black to Temur really helps give it that extra push. This deck plays as many two-for-one creatures as it can get its hands on. We have Den Protector, Dragonlord Atarka, and Nissa, Vastwood Seer, to name a few. Even some of the noncreatures are two-for-ones, such as Exert Influence and Kolaghan's Command.

Congratulations to Kaiyin Wang for finishing in the Top 16 of Grand Prix Kōbe with an innovative take on Temur!
