Today's deck is one of the more exciting decks to come out of the SCG Open in Chicago during Magic Origins Release Weekend. Green-based graveyard decks have been around for a while now and are pretty popular. They utilize self-mill spells like Satyr Wayfinder and Commune with the Gods, and they return creatures they mill with spells like Whip of Erebos. Matthew Tickal's deck has a slightly different approach to using the graveyard. He is using the Fate Reforged rare, Rally the Ancestors, to win in one big turn.

Gather the Pack is a new spell from Origins and is probably the best option for self-mill right now. It does a similar thing as other self-mill spells, as it mills five cards and lets you take a creature. Gather the Pack has the added utility of letting you take a second creature if you have spell mastery.

So how does this deck win? Well, the first thing you want to do is fill up your graveyard as quickly as possible. When the time is right, Rally the Ancestors for three can bring everything back and that's when you'll profit. Generally you will win on the spot by giving your creatures haste and intimidate with Mogis's Marauders and attacking for the win. Sometimes you just won't have enough damage to do that and you'll have to set up for a future turn by sacrificing creatures to Nantuko Husk and triggering Grim Haruspex to draw more cards. Sacrificing your creatures gives you the extra insurance you need because when they are in the graveyard they won't get exiled to the Rally at the beginning of your next upkeep.

This deck also plays some new double-sided Planeswalkers. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy allows you to fill up your graveyard in the early game, and when he becomes a Planeswalker he lets you flashback your Rally the Ancestors. Liliana, Heretical Healer is really easy to transform in this deck. Just sacrifice one of your creatures to your Nantuko Husk and you will have a Planeswalker and a 2/2 zombie. Liliana allows you to return an important creature to the battlefield that may have died earlier in the game.

Another cool thing this deck can do involves a sideboard card. If you return four copies of Cleric of the Forward Order with your Rally, they all see each other when they trigger. That means when the trigger resolves, there will be four copies on the battlefield and you will gain 8 for each one, netting you 32 life!
