The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on November 10, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you by Hall of Fame pro, all-star commentator, and all-around good guy William Jensen, who had something to say this morning that you should read.

Today's Must Commander (2016) Musts

  1. Commander 2016 Review! | | Sheldon Menery

The Godfather of Commander (official title) has spoken, and offered up his review of all—yes all—of the new cards found in Commander (2016 Edition).

  1. Commander 2016 and Ethan Fleischer | Commanderin' | Phil DeLuca, Nate Burgess, and Sean Whatson

R&D's Ethan Fleischer joins the Commanderin' crew to talk about Kaladesh and the impact on the Standard metagame, plus the evolution of Black-Green Delirium.

Just kidding—they talk Commander. Specifically, Commander (2016 Edition). Did you know it comes out this Friday? Have I reminded you of that in the last, oh, 30 seconds?

  1. Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder—"Entropic Uprising" C16 Deck Tech | The Command Zone | Jimmy Wong and Josh Lee Kwai

Two Command Zone podcasts in one week?! It's like we're releasing a Commander-focused product on Friday or something (we are). This one is on Yidris, for when you like Maelstrom Wanderer, but "cascade, cascade" just isn't enough cascade.

  1. Two Gathering Magic Partner Pieces

Gathering Magic has two Commander pieces today you could check out, one from Jason Alt on combining Silas Renn, Seeker Adept and Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa, and another from Brandon Isleib on the pairing of Tymna the Weaver and Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder. Two pieces! On partnering! Get it?!

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Kaladesh Archetype Breakdown: Part Two | Limited Resources | Marshall Sutcliffe and Luis Scott-Vargas

Because Part One just wasn't enough time to cover all of the wonders Kaladesh has to offer, Marshall and Luis take another deep dive into the archetypes that make Kaladesh Limited tick.

  1. Modern Flashback Series: Magic 2012 | PureMTGO | Vincent Borchardt

For the discerning drafter, may I offer you a fine 2012 vintage? Borchardt covers the ins and outs of Magic 2012 Limited for anyone looking to pick up a Flashback Draft or twelve.

Top 25

  1. Round and round the rankings go

For yet another week, we have yet another change at the very top of the rankings. A new, old, new, old No. 1 has claimed the throne—Seth Manfield!

Thanks to his Top 50 finish at Grand Prix Dallas/Fort Worth, Manfield gained just enough of an edge on Yasooka to once again climb into the No. 1 slot. A single point separates them, so don't be surprised to see things change again soon.

Meanwhile, Samuel Pardee, Ryichi Tamada, and Matthew Nass all jumped way up in the rankings, and Brian Braun-Duin took his Modern Dredge deck to a Top 8 and subsequently to No. 22 on our charts. The World Champion is quickly becoming one of the most reliable Grand Prix performers in the game, so I wouldn't expect him to drop off either.

What People Are Talking About

Well, at least people in the Seattle area are certainly talking about this. Cassius Marsh is a defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks who had his collection stolen, and by the list of decks stolen, it's a pretty great collection. Be on the lookout, if you live nearby or are a card trader.

Magus of the Will is certainly a fan favorite, and the art by Vincent Proce only enhances that.

Deck of the Day

  1. Aetherworks Delirium

Aetherworks Marvel was a card that was everywhere at Pro Tour Kaladesh—and then nowhere. Turns out people figured out how to beat the one-dimensional deck pretty quickly, and instead White-Blue Flash (a major foil to Marvel) and Black-Green Delirium (a major foil to Flash) rose to the top of the metagame.

So Magic Online user Yukynag decided to just combine Marvel with Black-Green Delirium and bypass that whole Flash thing.

The deck below, which went 5-0 in a Competitive Standard League, is part Delirium, part Aetherworks Marvel, and all powerful. It has the potential for a fourth-turn Emrakul, the Promised End or Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, but it can also sit behind Ishkanah, Grafwidow or jazz up its graveyard enough to simply cast Emrakul.

Note the transformational sideboard that lets Yukynag go straight-up Delirium when the matchup calls for it. What kind of surprise would you get when you prepare for Aetherworks Marvel and instead get served up a second-turn Grim Flayer? Not the good kind.

Could this be the future that gets Aetherworks Marvel back in the limelight? Who knows, but it would make for a heck of a Friday Night Magic surprise.
