Blake is the content manager for, making him the one you should email if you have thoughts on the website, good or less good (or not good). He's a longtime coverage reporter and hasn't turned down a game of Magic in any format ever.

The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on June 14, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you by convincing your opponent to make the wrong play. The ultimate mind trick.

Today's Must

  1. How to Convince Your Opponent to Hand You the Game | ChannelFireball | Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa

One of the skills that truly separates the best from the rest is the ability to get your opponent to do what you want them to do simply by playing in a certain way. In this article, PVDDR talks about not just bluffing, but creating scenarios where you convince and incentivize your opponent to act the way you would like them to act.

So Is Green-White Tokens Good or Bad?

  1. Your Deck Sucks/Is Historically Good |

Green-White Tokens is probably the best deck in Standard, and Ross Merriam thinks it's historically good. But then if you scroll down on just a tad, you'll see that Mark Nestico has an article all about how much it sucks.

So which is it,! Quit playing both sides!

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Eternal Masters Flavor Gems | Gathering Magic | Snack Time with Mike and Ant

Ant Tessitore and Mike Linnemann are all geared up to talk flavor in Eternal Masters. The dynamic duo talks art, flavor text, and more. Get your Vorthos on with this nearly 40-minute podcast.

  1. MTG Lore: The Mending | Seibenlore

For something so important to the overarching story of Magic, The Mending is little-understood among people who aren't on top of every single bit of flavor. Seiben has you covered, explaining this pivotal event in detail and giving you the scoop as to why things are the way they are.

  1. Pauper Resources | Gathering Magic | Alex Ullman

It's aggregation-ception as I point you to an article that points you to other articles that have actual Pauper content. At least I assume they do. I refuse to go that deep. Never again.

  1. Dies to Removal—MTG Video Podcast with Tolarian Community College—Special Charity Edition! | The Mana Source | Wedge and The Professor

Wedge and The Professor team up for a charity podcast. They talk about this and that and charity, but you're watching because it teams up two of Magic's top YouTube personalities. Also, for Wedge's sleek new silky look and The Professor's dapper clothes.

  1. Fortune Telling | Cardboard Crack

The future would have been a dark and scary place as seen from 1996...

What People Are Talking About

  1. Magic's Twitter account has a fantastic new logo

We do! I've said it before and I'll continue to hammer it home until we don't have to (won't that be the day...), but Wizards of the Coast highly values inclusivity. It is literally the first item on our company values.

Community Spotlight

  1. Magic the Jeopardying

After being featured on a live Magic the Amatuering stream, you too can play Magic the Jeoparding and set up a Jeopardy-style game at home for you and your friends. Alex Trebek not included.

Deck of the Day

  1. Fish in All Formats

Merfolk has started to get its due in Modern, and it even (somehow) pops up in Vintage now and then. But Legacy? It hasn't really made much of an impact there.

But Magic Online player Haneman took the challenge and the fishy ones to a 5-0 record in Legacy League. The deck is about twelve cards off a Modern deck, and the core of the list is still Modern-legal, but Legacy-only items like Force of Will, Umezawa's Jitte, Chalice of the Void, and True-Name Nemesis give the deck another dimension.

The sideboard is packed with goodies too, as Back to Basics, Ensnare, Cursed Totem, and Submerge pile on against other archetypes that the mono-blue deck can aim for.
