Blake is the content manager for DailyMTG.com, making him the one you should email if you have thoughts on the website, good or less good (or not good). He's a longtime coverage reporter and hasn't turned down a game of Magic in any format ever.

The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on June 17, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you by learning .

Today's Must

  1. Seven Common Mistakes and How to Correct Them | TCGPlayer | Craig Wescoe

It must be teaching week in the community, as we've had multiple theory/learning-style articles this week. The latest entry comes from Craig Wescoe, who, coincidentally, is trying to formulize teaching people to play better Magic. Today's lesson covers seven deadly sins common mistakes and what to do instead.

What to Watch This Weekend

  1. StarCityGames.com Orlando Open Weekend

Standard is in the spotlight as StarCityGames.com turns its gaze to Orlando. Cedric Phillips and Craig Krempels commentate on two days of Gideons, Nissas, and maybe even a Dragonlord or two. Tune in to twitch.tv/scglive starting at 10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT on Saturday for one of the final rides before Eldritch Moon.

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. What's the Play? Red-White Humans Mirror Match | ChannelFireball | Luis Scott-Vargas

Not content with nearly destroying the community with the Looter Problem in his last What's the Play, Luis Scott-Vargas is back once again to throw the community into a tizzy with a What's the Play that will, hopefully, be way less contentious.

Fingers crossed. I can't handle that again.

  1. The long road: My time at Wizards (so far) | Project Discovery | Titus Lunter

Titus Lunter is an artist who started creating Magic images with Khans of Tarkir. In this blog, he shares stories about his experience creating art for Wizards of the Coast so far. The man did multiple Expeditions, so he's kind of a big deal.

  1. Mike's Mini-Deck Doctor | Top Level Podcast | Mike Flores and Patrick Chapin

Chapin digs into analyzing some of Flores's latest decklists as practice for upcoming Deck Doctor segments. The doctor is in, and his diagnosis is—murder. Wait, no, sorry, different show.

  1. Vintage 101: Riders on the Storm | MTGGoldfish | Islandswamp

While the Vintage-playing community might be small, I firmly believe that the Vintage-reading community is significantly larger. Like people who read lifestyle magazines or watched Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (or Cribs for those of you who are younger), we all want to at least read about Vintage. Robin Leach would have played Vintage. Or whoever hosted Cribs.

  1. Me, My Self-Care, and I | The Girlfriend Bracket | Erin Campbell, Hallie Santo, Katie Neal, and Kriz Schultz

Wondering where The Girlfriend Bracket has been? They explain, plus share some stories from behind the scenes in the Community Super League.

What People Are Talking About

  1. Bamana | Denny's Tumblr

I never thought I'd be posting something from the Denny's Tumblr, but here we are. I just—I dunno. This exists. Just check it out.

Deck of the Day

  1. Pauper Grixis Affinity

The results from a post-Eternal Masters metagame are creeping in, and the most surprising deck has almost nothing to do with EMA. Magic Online user FredMcFred recently went 5-0 with Bleak Coven Vampires in his deck.

I'll give you a moment to read the card.

Combined with flicker effects and a million artifacts, this deck is able to take advantage of both strong affinity cards (Thoughtcast, Galvanic Blast) and enters-the-battlefield abilities (Mulldrifter, Beetleback Chief) for a deck that's almost two decks in its execution.
