PAX West Recaps

  1. Now that PAX West is behind us and Kaladesh is being unfurled, here are a few places you can go to see what all took place at PAX, in case you weren't able to join us in Seattle (or if you just want to relive the memories):
  • Facebook Album—With a great trio of photographers (thanks Craig, Rob, and Ryan!) we have a fantastic photo album from this weekend. Go check it out!
  • YouTube Playlist: Kaladesh—We streamed every panel of Magic and then recorded them to be posted to YouTube. This playlist should give you a fantastic look at the new set as well as what we did at PAX West this year.
  • Don't have time to watch hours of panels from PAX West? Here's a 5-minute video that recaps and highlights some of the most notable moments from this weekend:

Today's Previews

  1. Exclusive Kaladesh Preview: Bristling Hydra | TCGPlayer | Adam Yurchick (and Ryan, Jon, and Liana)

TCGPlayer leads off with a video featuring Ryan, Jon, and Liana introducing Bristling Hydra, then follows with an article by Adam Yurchick to look over a number of cards that have been previewed for Kaladesh.

  1. Paradoxical Outcome: Exclusive Kaladesh Spoiler | MTGGoldfish | SaffronOlive

SaffronOlive dives into this unique blue instant, at first thinking it was something for his "Against the Odds" series only to realize that it is perhaps too powerful for it. He presents a handful of Modern and Standard decks for the new Kaladesh card Paradoxical Outcome.

  1. Kaladesh Preview: Noxious Gearhulk | ChannelFireball | Luis Scott-Vargas

LSV writes a short article about the black-aligned Gearhulk and explains a bit about why this card is powerful.

Tune in to Magic Mics tonight at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT to see the gang preview a sweet new card from Kaladesh!

What People Are Talking About

  1. Reddit's discussion about Nissa, Vital Force

The Reddit discussion after the newest green planeswalker card was revealed was super positive. It even peaked among the top posts overall on Reddit for a while, as did the response to the new Chandra in Kaladesh.

  1. Bulletin from the Kaladesh Consulate

The Consulate of Kaladesh put out a public bulletin about the renegade leader known as Pia Nalaar, causing quite the stir on Tumblr.

  1. Magic: The Gathering World Championship Trophy | Nick Fair

Nick Fair, the man who worked with Wizards to design this year's Magic World Championship trophy, wrote a post on his site diving into the designs and sketches and the overall process that went into creating the newest bit of bling for Magic players.

Deck of the Day

  1. Ross Merriam's Blue-Red Reveler

Ross Merriam discusses a blue-red deck built around Bedlam Reveler that Chris Kelley played to 6th place at a Invitational Qualifier. The interesting thing about the deck (well, one of the interesting things) is that it foregoes what many might consider a required card: Delver of Secrets. Check out the list and maybe this could be your next Modern deck.
