The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on September 12, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you by Masterpiece Monday.

Today's Previews

For the previews not already found on DailyMTG, look no further than this section here. Well, click on the links below, but, no further than that. After that, you're good for the day.

  1. Combustible Gearhulk is Our Exclusive Kaladesh Preview| Top Level Podcast | Patrick Chapin and Mike Flores

All five Gearhulks have now been officially previewed. The red one is certainly unique. Which is your favorite?

  1. Nouvelle carte Magic en Exclu Kaladesh : Archétype de façonneur d'outils | Jeuxvideo.com

French outlet Jeuxvideo.com previewed an aggressively-minded one-drop that, in English, is called Toolcraft Exemplar. You can get a solid translation here.

  1. Magic: The Gathering Shopping Network - Electrostatic Pummeler (Kaladesh Spoiler / Preview) | Tolarian Community College | Ashlen Rose and The Professor

The Professor does some of the best preview content on the internet. Don't believe me? There's video proof right, well, here.

  1. Previews yet to come

Additionally, watch Twitter for previews from Aaron Forsythe and Ian Duke. Plus, the Masters of Modern (watch their Twitter here) have another card that might add a new weapon to an old, powerful archetype.

What People Are Talking About

Yes, that pretty much sums it up. Mark Rosewater talks about the Masterpiece Series in his column today and shows off four of them. The rest will go up at 2 p.m. PT. And they're gorgeous.

After All of That, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. One Last Tournament | ChannelFireball | Luis Scott-Vargas

A recap to the final professional level event (for now) from one of our greatest players now moving into the coverage booth (more) full-time.

  1. Top Moments from Team Grand Prix

Team Grand Prix are favorites of the Pros, and there were plenty of moments to remember from this weekend. Check them out:

That's quite the send-off for Eldritch Moon Limited. But fret not. Kaladesh Limited is coming, and with it, many, many Cloudblazers. And nearly as many Cloudblazer references.

  1. Improving the RPTQs with the Magic Number 17 | MTGMintCard | Arnaud Soumet

Soumet, a business consultant in his spare time (read: his job) looks at improving the RPTQ system by awarding invites based on a special number—17. So—was Douglas Adams wrong?

  1. PAXspolsion| Magic the Amateuring | Maria Bartholdi and Meghan Wolff

Meghan and Maria were on-site for PAX, and they share all the stories, anecdotes, and news they can fit after an introduction that goes a touch off the rails (semi-pun intended).

Deck of the Day

  1. Blue-Red Burn

There was a Standard MOCS (Magic Online Championship Series) tournament this past weekend, and the second place deck by MikeyRooRoo (fantastic name) struck me because nearly the entire deck survives rotation intact. That means we might have an early frontrunner for the Deck to Beat come Kaladesh's early weeks.

The deck is the same concept we've been seeing for a bit now—red burn spells backed by Fevered Visions, with Thermo-Alchemist spitting out damage. MikeyRooRoo went the Stormchaser Mage route, and even added a bit of spice with Unsubstantiate, which is killer with Fevered Visions.

So what does the deck lose? Not much. This list has a single Jace, Vryn's Prodigy, but that isn't even standard. Fiery Impulse is pretty easily replaced by Galvanic Bombardment. And Shivan Reef gets a (maybe?) upgrade with the new blue-red dual land in Kaladesh. The sideboard loses a few more cards, but all of them are basically replaceable/metagame calls anyway.

So get look below and start getting a (fevered) vision of what could be headlining Standard soon.
