The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on October 28, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you the full Commander (2016 Edition) Card Image Gallery!

What to Watch This Weekend

  1. Grand Prix Warsaw

Standard takes center stage again at Grand Prix Warsaw this weekend, starting Saturday at 10 a.m. local time/1 a.m. PT/4 a.m. ET on twitch.tv/magic. My fiancée is out of town this weekend, so the chances of me running FNM into watching this stream into getting no sleep are not small.

  1. North American Eternal Weekend

We just had European Eternal Weekend, so you might already be salivating over this. Card Titan hosts a weekend full of Eternal format competitions in Columbus, Ohio, and will be streaming the whole thing on twitch.tv/cardtitan. In fact, they're likely streaming as you're reading this, as they were already underway when I started writing this very item.

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Spark of Genius | Gathering Magic | Ali Aintrazi

Never stop brewing. As you might have seen yesterday when SaffronOlive played my Panharmonicon deck on stream (like I wasn't going to mention that), there's still a ton of fun, unexplored space in Standard. Here Ali Aintrazi does just that.

  1. Three's Company | The Girlfriend Bracket | Erin Campbell, Hallie Santo, Katie Neal, and Kriz Schultz

SCG Milwaukee, missed triggers and concessions, and a diversity initiative at Grand Prix are all on the docket for The Girlfriend Bracket.

  1. How NOT to Deal with a Prized Amalgam | Top Level Podcast | Patrick Chapin and Mike Flores

Prized Amalgam has proven itself a powerhouse in Standard and older formats, and man does it feel impossible to deal with. Chapin and Flores talk about maybe Geralf's greatest creation (sorry, Geralf's Masterpiece).

  1. Kaladesh Re-Review | Limited Resources | Marshall Sutcliffe and Luis Scott-Vargas

With some time to reflect, Marshall and Luis revisit their early impressions of Kaladesh, plus pivot on a number of cards.

Thankfully, Cloudblazer is still great.

  1. Top 10 Cards to Play for Halloween | Gathering Magic | Inside the Deck

I couldn't share this yesterday when I was buried under so many previews, but I wanted to share it anyway with Halloween coming up. Why not play something thematic on the spookiest of holidays?

What People Are Talking About

And these are some of the gorgeous prizes from the North American Eternal Weekend!

  1. Whilst not all legends should be a top-down design, would you agree that not making Ludevic top-down was a mistake? | Blogatog | Mark Rosewater

There has been a lot of internet dissatisfaction with Ludevic's card from Commander (2016 Edition), but here Mark Rosewater fully addresses how and why a character's card may not fit with what some in the community are looking for. And, we should add, printing one version of the character doesn't prevent us from printing another in the future. Just ask Gisela, Geralf, Avacyn, Olivia, Daretti, Grenzo, basically all of the Planeswalkers, and many, many more. It's good feedback, but I highly doubt we're done telling Ludevic's story.

Deck of the Day

  1. White-Blue Panharmonicombo

I'm not going to claim this is a tier 1 deck, or guarantee that you'll crush a Friday Night Magic with it. But I will guarantee that it's fun.

This deck, unlike most decks I feature here, is my baby. The list posted here changes every few hours I test it (you can see the image above is different from my current list below), and I even have multiple versions of the deck saved on Magic Online, but the core of the deck is this:

Sure, the deck does other things, but do you care?

The deck is actually packed with enters-the-battlefield abilities. Thraben Inspector makes multiple Clues, Reflector Mage bounces multiple creatures, Filigree Familiar gains 4 life, and Drowner of Hope makes four Scions. The real kicker is that last one, as you can combine Panharmonicon, Drowner of Hope, and Eldrazi Displacer to make as much colorless mana, as many Scions, and blink as many things as you like. The deck ends up playing like a midrange deck that kicks into high gear with a Panharmonicon and it has a combo finish. It even has Smuggler's Copter to help dig for the right pieces.

The deck isn't a world-beater, but it is an absolute blast to play. I'll be playing it at Friday Night Magic tonight. How about you?
