By Blake Rasmussen

Blake is the content manager for DailyMTG.com, making him the one you should email if you have thoughts on the website, good or less good (or not good). He's a longtime coverage reporter and hasn't turned down a game of Magic in any format ever.

The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on November 1, 2016. Today's Update is brought to you by Panharmonicon. Mostly because people keep sending me awesome Panharmonicon decks. Today, one is Deck of the Day.

Today's Must

  1. Creating Masterpiece Series: Kaladesh Inventions | TCGPlayer | Ant Tessitore

Tessitore sits down with Kelly Digges of the Magic creative team to discuss the plights and perils of brining Kaladesh Inventions in-world and making them feel like they belong in Kaladesh. This is an interview full of insights you won't find anywhere else.

After That, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Top 10 Commander 2016 Cards | Gathering Magic | Abe Sargent

Sargent knows Commander, having written about casual formats for basically forever. Here he highlights ten powerful cards that also just happen to be awesome to play with.

  1. Magic the Gathering Gameshow—Windmillionaire Halloween Special | Windmill Slam

A final little touch of Halloween for anyone holding on desperately to the holiday, Windmill Slam held their Halloween special gameshow episode and, as usual, the introduction is awesome.

  1. Magic the PROthering: Andrew Brown | Magic the Amateuring | Maria Bartholdi and Meghan Wolff

This one was published yesterday after I wrote the Update, but we can't turn down highlighting our new co-worker, Andrew Brown, who is jumping off the Pro Tour for a turn in Magic R&D.

  1. 2017 SCG Tour and In-Store Programs Update | StarCityGames.com | Pete Hoefling

Pete Hoefling, the president of StarCityGames.com, delivers some news about, well, what the title says.

  1. Paradox Affinity in Legacy | Hipsters of the Coast | Aaron Gazzaniga

Paradoxical Outcome in all formats! The powerful Kaladesh blue instant might be in the process of taking over Vintage—so Gazzaniga asks, "Why not Legacy?"

Community Spotlight

  1. The Magic Bracket

For the next two years, Twitter handle @MTG_Bracket (run by David Lyford-Smith) will be running a single-elimination bracket of every Magic card ever! Every card will be run 1 vs. 1 in a voting survey against another card. The most voted for card moves on. In two years (there are a lot of Magic cards), we'll have a winner! Vote for your favorite art, card, color—whatever! Just vote!

What People Are Talking About

  1. Team Cardhoarder and Kent Ketter Part Ways

This was an internal team decision concerning one of its members, Kent Ketter, so I won't say much about it except that if you want the scoop, Team Cardhoarder has been pretty open about what was going on in a pair of Reddit threads, the first one here and the second one just posted yesterday afternoon.

  1. Some thoughts on Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis

There have been some awesome posts and responses to this card. The Reddit post linked above has a number of cool thoughts and comments, and multiple Tumblr posts have highlighted the card.

Deck of the Day

  1. Another Flavor of Panharmonicon

I don't mean to keep going back to this particular well, but when I flew my Panharmonicon flag, people responded with their own versions and lists. This list, however, just happens to have gone 5-0 in a League.

This version is an Esper Panharmonicon deck that adds black for a few choice cards, but primarily for Noxious Gearhulk, a card I tested a bit myself. BEAKID, also known as Björn Andreasson, opted to minimize the infinite Eldrazi Displacer/Drowner of Hope combo and played a number of one-ofs. While I can't get behind fewer than four Cloudblazers, there are some fantastic cards in here. Linvala, the Preserver has the potential to gain 10 life and two creatures with a Panharmonicon out, and Restoration Gearsmith can pull back two creatures—or it can rescue a downed Panharmonicon.

The two emerge Eldrazi don't work with Panharmonicon (they're cast triggers), but since the deck has multiple disposable three-drops plus the very disposable Glint-Nest Cranes, they are often awesome.

The final cherry on top is Essence Flux, a card I've been very impressed with.
