By Nicholas Wolfram

Nicholas Wolfram fell promptly in love with tabletop and video games when he was only two years old, and he has been writing about them since he figured out how words worked. Now he puts together words about Magic, which he started playing way back in 2000.

The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on February 6, 2017. Today's Update is brought to you by Pro Tour Aether Revolt Champion Lucas Esper Berthoud! Congratulations, Lucas!

What You May Have Missed This Weekend

  1. Pro Tour Aether Revolt

Pro Tour Aether Revolt brought together the world's greatest Magic players for some tense competition. After three days of duking it out in Dublin, Lucas Esper Berthoud of Brazil emerged victorious and took home the top price. Check out for any of the action you may have missed!

Today's Must

  1. Four Key Takeaways from Pro Tour Aether Revolt | ChannelFireball | John Silvestri

With Pro Tour Aether Revolt behind us, John has some important lessons we can learn from what we saw at the tournament. The short story? We have a healthy and dynamic metagame to look forward to.

After That, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Daily Digest: Can You Say Underrated? | | Ross Merriam

With lots of discussion already behind us about Black-Green Delirium and plenty on the way about Mardu Vehicles, Ross wanted to focus on the other deck from the Top 8 at Pro Tour Aether Revolt: Martin Jůza's Jund Energy Aggro.

  1. Pro Tour Aether Revolt Testing Insider | Limited Resources | Marshall Sutcliffe and Luis Scott-Vargas

Marshall and Luis were able to attend the Limited team testing meeting for teams ChannelFireball Fire and Team Mutiny, and they are ready to share the inside scoop on what they saw.

  1. Team ChannelFireball Ice Deck Tech: Mardu Vehicles | ChannelFireball | Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa

Paulo piloted his Mardu Vehicles successfully to the Top 8 alongside five other Mardu Vehicles decks. While Paulo may not have won the demolition derby that took place, he does have some excellent insight on how to build a similar deck for yourself.

  1. The Pro Tour's Hidden Brews | | Chris Lansdell

You've already heard about a lot of decks from Pro Tour Aether Revolt: Copycat of any number of colors, Black-Green Delirium, Mardu Vehicles . . . but have you heard about Sultai Delirium? Or Black-Red Aggro? Well, don't worry; Chris has the details on the under-discussed decks of the Pro Tour.

  1. Kari Zev, Skyship Raider | MTG Card Market | Troy Bishop

Ragavan is easily the best new Monkey commander to come out of Aether Revolt. Not only is he disadvantageous to target since he is very easy to recur, but he is also an excellent candidate for abilities that require sacrificing a creature. He also happens to come along with an awesome Pirate named Kari Zev, Skyship Raider.

What People Are Talking About

  1. Magic's newest Champion, Lucas Esper Berthoud!

Armed with his own version of the tournament's runaway archetype, Lucas was able to prove that his brew of Mardu Vehicles was worthy of a Champion.

Deck of the Day

  1. Pro Tour Aether Revolt Champion Lucas Esper Berthoud's Mardu Vehicles

With six versions of Mardu Vehicles entering the Top 8 this weekend at Pro Tour Aether Revolt, it seemed likely that we would see a mirror match during the final games of the tournament—and that's exactly what happened. Both Lucas Esper Berthoud and Márcio Carvalho entered the Thunderdome, but only one man leave. And as we all know, that man was Lucas.
