The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on May 23, 2017. Today's Update is brought to you by HASCON, which, well, read below.

HASCON Tickets on Sale

  1. And by that we mean Iconic Masters Prerelease Event Tickets on Sale

Remember when we announced that HASCON—Hasbro's first-ever convention—was going to be kicking off our 25th Anniversary celebration in September? And remember how we also told you we were running a Prerelease experience for Iconic Masters, which doesn't release till November?

Tickets went on sale last night. Just saying.

I'm joking a little bit about the focus on Iconic Masters, which is certainly a cool event, but we'll also have panels, other play experiences, Ixalan previews, and more, not to mention all the other Hasbro toys and universes that will have their own things going on. I mean, it's not like you need a reason to head to Providence, RI, in September, but here's one anyway.

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Channel LSV – 1v1 Commander: Baral, Chief of Compliance | ChannelFireball | Luis Scott-Vargas

It's everything you didn't know you wanted. LSV jumps into 1v1 Commander with, clearly, a Baral, Chief of Compliance deck. In fact, we're going to make the deck today's Deck of the Day as well, since it is the de facto 1v1 Commander deck.

In totally not-at-all-related-to-this-deck news, look for updates to the 1v1 Commander B&R list tomorrow on the Magic Online Tumblr.

  1. Casual Content You Don't Want to Miss | TCGPlayer | Bruce Richard

Man, Bruce doing my job for me. In this article, Bruce highlights some of the best casual-minded Magic content on the interwebs. Most of these we've looked at here at one time or another, so this one gets my stamp of content reviewing approval.

  1. Mono Black Zombies Matchup Guide | MTG Mint Card | Zen Takahashi

I'm actually surprised we haven't seen more guides to playing Mono-Black Zombies, given that it's actually a relatively new deck and there are a ton of nuances to playing with it. Takahashi remedies that with a thoroughly thorough matchup guide to basically anything you could possibly play against in Standard.

  1. Martin Müller PT Amonkhet Top 4 Report | Hareruya English | Martin Müller

Speaking of the Pro Tour, while we were all caught up in Gerry Thompson's win and Christian Calcano's first Top 8, Martin Müller quietly grabbed his second Pro Tour Top 8 in his young career. Here he explains how he came around to Chandra, Flamecaller and how he made it all the way to the Top 4.

Single-Card Spotlights

  1. Amonkhet Makes its Presence Felt

We're more than a week after the Pro Tour and we're still getting fun new content out of it. These four videos highlight some Amonkhet cards that have made their presence felt in the format.

What To Watch Tonight

  1. Draft Super League | | 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET/1 a.m. UTC

It's the return of the helpful Tweet! Note the change in time for this week only.

Top 25

  1. Grand Prix Rumblings

Most of the world's best didn't fare terribly well this past weekend, which means there were only a few slight changes to this week's Top 25. Steven Rubin fell two spots, which let Chew, Thompson, and Jůza sneak up a spot. A few others slid down and a few others stepped over them.

The most significant move is the return of Oliver Tiu to the Top 25 at the expense of Jiachen Tao, who fell off the Top 25 entirely.

What People Are Talking About

  1. I think the Gatewatch is simply going to lose | Archive Trap Mini | Vorthosjay

Speculation about the Gatewatch's fate in Hour of Devastation is ramping up as the first new story approaches (not this Wednesday, and not next Wednesday, but the Wednesday after that). You can see the conversation weaving itself through Tumblr especially as players fret (or exult) over the hints speculating toward the fate of the Gatewatch.

Whatever happens, it's going to be (pause, slip sunglasses on, do best Zac Hill impression)—devastating.

Deck of the Day

  1. 1v1 Baral, Chief of Compliance

While players play to their taste in 1v1 Commander, Baral decks are, far and away, the tastiest on Magic Online right now. It's a mono-blue deck that aims to counter all of the things before finishing the game with a Polymorphed (or other similar spell) Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.

It's really that simple. Super powerful, but quite simple.
