The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on May 24, 2017. Today's Update is brought to you by every creature entering the battlefield at the same time.

Today's Must

  1. What If All Creatures in Magic Would Enter the Battlefield at the Same Time? | ChannelFireball | Frank Karsten

I want to live in Frank Karsten's brain, where not only do these questions get raised, but actually answered. The comments are great, the Reddit thread is great, everything about this is great.

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. And a Pomme de Terre to You, Kind Sir | Magic the Amateuring | Maria Bartholdi and Meghan Wolff

Grand Prix, Canadian border patrols, and the newfound love of a true-blue Commander. All that in just a touch over an hour. Sounds like a perfect lunch break.

  1. Top 10 Black and Green Cards in EDH – Revisited | The Command Zone | Jimmy Wong and Josh Lee Kwai

Well, they're not blue, but these colors do go well with blue, so I'll allow it. Jimmy and Josh both give their lists for the best cards in Golgari colors. Mulldrifter was not eligible.

Community Spotlight

  1. The Content Creators' Cup - TastySnackies vs. Nizzahon Magic - Quarterfinal Match #1 | Card Bazaar

Card Bazaar is a YouTube channel that creates content pretty regularly. The latest offering is a Content Creators' Cup pitting a pair of Magic content creators against one another in 1v1 Commander. They also do a series called Card Anthology, where they discuss old Magic sets for just the right touch of nostalgia.

  1. The Loregoyfs

A group of four story-loving friends get together and talk about Magic Story. It's a simple formula, but the quartet are friendly, funny, and engaging, which makes it an enjoyable listen. They've got 15 episodes under their belt and don't show any signs of slowing down.

What to Watch Today

  1. Weekly Ward | twitch.tv/kirwansgamestore | 9:30 a.m. PT/12:30 p.m. ET/3:30 UTC

Kevin Jones and Dan Ward host a weekly news show on Magic happening probably right about now (or it already happened—I don't know your life). It just so happens that this week Kevin Jones is the news, having won a Grand Prix last weekend. So, ya know, he's got a few things to talk about.

  1. Magic Mics | twitch.tv/magicmics | 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET/3 a.m. UTC

Maybe one of these weeks we'll have a rather uneventful week without much to talk about and the talking heads of Magic Mics—Evan Erwin, Erin Campbell, and Reuben Bresler—will spend most of the time talking about the latest movie. But that week is not tonight.

What People Are Talking About

  1. In praise of Hex | The Magic Bracket | David Lyford-Smith

The Magic Bracket, for those not familiar, is a single-elimination bracket of every Magic card ever, but now and then David Lyford-Smith (who runs the bracket) stops in for some commentary. Here, he talks about the card Hex and how great it is, as it came up in the bracket this week.

Not this tweet in particular, but there seems to be a rising tide of brews that beat or purport to beat the Standard metagame, especially as people revisit aggressive strategies and the non-Ulamog Eldrazi we've all kind of collectively left behind. Conley Woods did something similar recently that involved Thought-Knot Seer. Do we even collectively realize that card is still Standard-legal? (Sam Stoddard is going to talk a little about this on Friday.)

Deck of the Day

  1. White-Blue Flash

There was a time when White-Blue Flash was the best deck in Standard, particularly since it was so strong against Aetherworks Marvel.

Sound familiar?

Magic Online user McWinSauce piloted their updated version of the deck to a 5-0 record in a Competitive Standard League recently, and it has all the makings of being powerful once more. Spell Queller is still one of the best ways to hold up an Aetherworks Marvel. Archangel Avacyn is excellent against Zombies, especially when Eldrazi Skyspawner and Walking Ballista can trigger Avacyn at will.

The list even has multiple ways to deal with an Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger if it does end up in play—Declaration in Stone and Stasis Snare.

Plus, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and Archangel Avacyn are just plain powerful cards. That's not a bad place to be.
