Blake is the content manager for, making him the one you should email if you have thoughts on the website, good or less good (or not good). He's a longtime coverage reporter and hasn't turned down a game of Magic in any format ever.

The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on June 8, 2017. Today's Update is brought to you by historical moments.

Today's Must

  1. Rejected Brews & Other Considerations for Standard | MTG Mint Card | Simon Nielsen

There are a ton of decks in this article, brews upon brews upon brews. None of them include Cloudblazer, however, so I'm not entirely sold.

After That, Read, Watch, or Listen to These

  1. Is Black-Green Delirium outdated? Not at all. | Hareruya English | Lukas Blohon

Well, sure, you say that now that you won a Grand Prix last weekend, but what has it done lately?

Blohon goes deep on the deck, so if you're interested in it, everything you need is right here.

  1. Commander Anthology VS! | StarCityGames | Justin Parnell and Stephen Green

Want an early look at battling Commander Anthology right out of the box? Commander VS is on the case a day before the box set drops in stores.

  1. Adapting to a New Deck | | Emma Handy

I bounce from deck to deck to deck (to deck) myself, and Handy has some useful advice for anyone looking to switch decks from one to another (to another).

  1. Improving at Your Own Pace | Constructed Criticism | Spencer Howland and Michael Hinderaker

But I want to be better noooowwwww.

  1. This Week in Legacy: Ovinosping, Hareruya Legacy Challenge, and GP Vegas Preparation | MTGGoldfish | Sean Brown

With Grand Prix Las Vegas just a week away, players are turning their attention to Legacy and Modern. With Miracles removed from the format, Legacy is still resetting its metagame, so pretty much anything can happen. Maybe even Panharmonicon/Cloudblazer!

A boy can dream.

Community Spotlight

  1. MTGO PTQ Changes & LSV Game Part 2 | Cardhoarder Podcast | Conor O'Donnell, Nathaniel Buckley-Wright, and David Murphy

This is a unique podcast in our community in that it focuses exclusively on Magic Online. They're weekly, they have 58 episodes under their belt, and they have a deep content well you can find right here.

What People Are Talking About

  1. Next week will be Announcement Week

True story. Details coming soon.

This is a thing that is happening!

Deck of the Day

  1. Benjamin Luft's Blue-Red Control

Luft came thiiiiiiis close to winning a Grand Prix last weekend with four Torrential Gearhulks in his deck, but was halted by Lukas Blohon's Black-Green Delirium deck. Still, it's an impressive performance for this deck that has been on the rise as of late.

There were a few spicy bits that might have contributed to Luft's success. One is the main deck Sphinx of the Final Word, which gives the deck a leg up in other control matchups. The other is a single Summary Dismissal, which is, of course, excellent against Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger.

The rest of the deck is prototypical control deck stuff—cheap removal, counterspells, and card draw. Basically, all the good stuff.
