The Daily Magic Update is a roundup of everything Magic you should know on August 30, 2017. Today's Update is brought to you by semi-readable, international previews!

Today's Previews

  1. こちらマジック広報室!!:次元を超えて、現実で宝探し!?『イクサラン』トレジャーハントに参加しよう!| mtg-jp | 金子 真実

Yeah, I don't know what any of that means above, but it points you to a sweet preview card named Pillar of Origins that does, well, what this helpful post says it does.

  1. Bellowing Aegisaur | Weibo

Roooooaaaarrrrr. Also, translation.

  1. Magic: The Gathering: Carta Exclusiva De Ixalan | IGN España | Alvaro Moral

I have some idea what the above means! And it also points you to a preview card named Dusk Legion Dreadnought. The text is a touch simpler on this one, and you can probably figure it out on your own, but, hey, someone translated it for you anyway.

  1. Эксклюзивная мировая премьера карты из набора «Иксалан» для Magic: The Gathering | StopGame | аватарГеннадий Воробьев

I know what that Magic: The Gathering part says! That's something. I also know what the text of their preview card, Kumena's Speaker, says. But I'll let someone else tell you. Because I'm lazy like that.

After Those, Read, Watch, or Listen to This

  1. An Invitation to Edit | TheMagicManSam

Everyone loves a good Invitational card story, and this video—this one has pretty much all of them.

What to Watch Tonight

I don't know what the big announcement is, but they used all caps, so it must be important. Plus, they're giving away some sweet, sweet HASCON VIP tickets. Which, if you didn't hear, are sweet.

What People Are Talking About

  1. Once Ixalan drops we will have a Standard where Dinosaurs riding trains and helicopters can fight Egyptian Zombie Pirates.

This seemed to catch a lot of people's attention in an "ain't that cool" sort of way. This thread has all kinds of amusing pictures and scenarios and is worth it for a chuckle to start the morning.

Okay, I've been staring at preview images for months and this is the first I've noticed the tiny ships scattered all around. This is why I love the regular unveiling of the art on social media.

The winners being Peach Garden Oath. Of which Owen is a member. So, yeah, congrats to him, Reid Duke, and William Jensen. I think they're going places.

Oh, and they also announced on the show last night (which you can watch here) that Vintage Super League would be returning. Freed from the shackles of Monastery Mentor and Thorn of Amethyst—or at least they've been loosened—the show is looking to break open the format's (hopefully) newfound diversity.

Deck of the Day

  1. Sultai Reanimator

Liliana, Death's Majesty, really hasn't gotten her due yet. Liliana, the Last Hope has been stealing a lot of her thunder as the cheaper, older version (don't tell her I said that), but once rotation hits, it's all Death's Majesty all the time.

Magic Online player IIxxJCxxII is already looking that direction, having gone 5-0 in a competitive Standard league with a deck that, while not 100% rotation proof, is pretty close.

The basic gist is that you dump a bunch of creatures in your graveyard with Champion of Wits—not so quietly the fastest-rising card from Hour of Devastation—or Oath of Jace to then reanimate with Liliana or The Scarab God.

For reanimation targets, the deck only loses Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, goes as well, but that was mostly for Traverse the Ulvenwald purposes. Speaking of which, this version of the deck does lean on Traverse to find single copies of creatures, so that will have to change, and might even induce the archetype to forgo green entirely, but that's doable. Oath of Jace might be a bit of a loss, but Strategic Planning does a good job of dumping cards as well.
