No Limit Soldiers

From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

One of the most exciting decks to come out of Pro Tour Magic 2015 was played by Alex Sittner. Alex's 8–2 record in Standard was fueled by as many Soldiers as he could get his hands on. The key to this deck is Obelisk of Urd, naming Soldier. Alex's deck has a whopping 23 Soldiers that cost a single mana, in addition to 4 Raise the Alarm that provide two Soldiers for two mana. This means that if you draw a hand with at least three lands, three creatures, and an Obelisk of Urd, then you can cast the artifact on the third turn. From there, attacking with a large army of Soldiers is likely to finish the game quickly.

In addition to Obelisk of Urd, there are some synergies that give the deck a little extra power to help win games. Akroan Crusader and Favored Hoplite give the deck a small heroic theme, fueled by Launch the Fleet and Dynacharge. Dynacharge is exceptionally effective with so many creatures that cost a single mana, closing games without the Obelisk of Urd.
