16回戦の長丁場も残すところ後2戦となった。
堂山がここまで2敗1分け、伊藤はここまで3敗、と両者ここで勝たないとベスト8の芽が完全に消えてしまう大事な一戦だ。
堂山のデッキは赤白コントロール、伊藤のデッキは赤緑ビーストである。
Game 1
先手の伊藤が強烈なロケットスタートを見せる。
2ターン目に《ワイアウッドのエルフ/Wirewood Elf》さらに3ターン目に《梢を這うもの/Canopy Crawler》（X=4）。この恐怖のファッティによって、対策カードを引くことのできなかった堂山のライフが3ターンで0になった。ほんの3分程度の瞬殺劇であった。

Game 2
もう後が無い堂山はなんとか取り返したいところだ。
が、最初に動いたのは後手の伊藤。2ターン目にいきなり《波停機/Stabilizer》をキャストする。
これにスタックを積み堂山はとりあえず《黒焦げ牙のクーガー/Chartooth Cougar》をサイクリングしてみるものの肝心の《アクローマの復讐/Akroma's Vengeance》はどこにも見えない。サイクリングを封じられかなり苦しい展開となる。
伊藤が3ターン目に呼んだ変異（《ヒストロドン/Hystrodon》）こそ《ショック/Shock》で対応できたものの、そのあと立て続けにキャストされた《超大なベイロス/Enormous Baloth》《思考繋ぎのプライモック/Thoughtbound Primoc》《テフラダーム/Tephraderm》が堂山を追い詰める。
結局、堂山はこの状況に対する、唯一の回答である《アクローマの復讐/Akroma's Vengeance》にたどり着けないままこの巨大生物軍団に押し切られることとなった。
両デュエルあわせて十数分の瞬殺劇であった。
