長い予選ラウンドを終え、とうとう始まった決勝ラウンド。
そこでまず第 1 戦目を戦うのは、元祖プロプレイヤー石田と、多数のデッキをデザインし、自身の力でここまで上がってきた平林との対決。
奇しくも、彼等の選んだデッキは、同じリアニメイトデッキと呼ばれる、強大なコストの重いクリーチャーを様々な手を使って場に高速召喚し、対戦相手をなぎ倒す物だ。
墓地にクリーチャーを送り込み、そこから場へ復活させる様から、リアニメイト(Reanimate=再生術)と言う名がついたデッキである。
だが、互いに同じデッキレシピと言う訳ではなく、石田は《怒りの天使アクローマ/Akroma, Angel of Wrath》、《幻影のニショーバ/Phantom Nishoba》等を 1 , 2 ターンの間に高速召喚し、そのまま殴りきるタイプ。対する平林は、《クローサの雲掻き獣/Krosan Cloudscraper》 2 枚と《縫合グール/Sutured Ghoul》を 1 枚の《生き埋め/Buried Alive》で墓地に送り込み、《死体のダンス/Corpse Dance》で 26/26 をぶつけて、一撃で勝負をつける物となっている。
さあ、 2 人のデッキデザイナーの意地のぶつかり合いをお届けしよう。
Game 1
まずは入念にシャッフル。
心ゆくまでシャッフルし、渾身の手札を期待しつつ、ゲームは平林先手で開始する。
まずは《モックス・ダイアモンド/Mox Diamond》をセットし、《圧服/Overmaster》を使ってキャントリップ。
そのまま《真鍮の都/City of Brass》をセットし、石田に対して《強迫/Duress》をプレイ。
マリガンを 1 回選択した石田の手札は、《再活性》、《陰謀団式療法/Cabal Therapy》、《幻影のニショーバ》、《渦巻く知識/Brainstorm》、《入念な研究/Careful Study》、《地底の大河/Underground River》。
マリガン後にしては素晴らしい手札を平林は眺めつつ、ディスカードに《再活性》を選択し、ターンエンド。
ではと、石田は《入念な研究》を撃ち、墓地へ《幻影のニショーバ》を叩き込む。
多少、微妙な初手をキープし、有効カードをドロー出来ない平林がもたついている間に、石田は《渦巻く知識》→《汚染された三角州/Polluted Delta》使用→《渦巻く知識》で入手した《死体発掘/Exhume》を使用。
これによって《幻影のニショーバ》を場に放った石田はゆっくりアタックし、 26 点アタック圏内から脱出する。
さて、平林は反撃したい所だが、未だにドローは土地。
そのまま、対処しきれぬ《幻影のニショーバ》を眺めつつ、平林のライフは 0 となった。

Game 2
再び先手は平林。
互いにマリガンチェックで時間が止まる。
悩んだ末にキープした手札で、まず平林が《強迫》をプレイ。
石田の手に唯一のリアニメイトカードである《再活性》を抜き去り、ターンエンド。
ターンは石田に移り、《入念な研究》から《戦慄をなす者ヴィザラ/Visara the Dreadful》をディスカード。
そのまま石田は《渦巻く知識》を撃ち、そこに含まれていた《死体発掘/Exhume》を発見して、《戦慄をなす者ヴィザラ》を場へと導く。
続くターン、平林は《圧服》でキャントリップなどで手を進めるが、《吸血の教示者/Vampiric Tutor》から《生き埋め》をキャスト。
さて、石田もここで次のターンの平林の行動を考えると、《戦慄をなす者ヴィザラ》を立てておきたい所だが、攻撃を開始。
そのまま、石田は《陰謀団式療法》で平林の手から《死体のダンス》を抜き去り、残る手札は 1 枚。
そして最後の 1 枚をキャストすると、それはなんと《エネルギー・フィールド/Energy Field》！
手札が 0 の状態でこれを張ってしまえば、手札破壊からの脱出もかなわず、平林は勝利の芽を摘まれてしまった。
ペインランドや《吸血の教示者》のせいもあり、残りライフは僅か 3 。
次のドローを覗いてみるが、対抗策見つからず、投了を宣言した。
