Remie Edges Aten for Writers’ Pick

Posted in Event Coverage on March 23, 2005

The race went right down to the wire, but we finally have a winner in the Writers' ballot!

Winning by the slimmest of margins, Jeroen Remie has earned a spot in the 2005 Magic Invitational. Remie amassed 32 points out of the 16 ballots, edging Tim Aten by a single point.

The voting included five writers each from Magicthegathering.com, Starcitygames.com and Brainburst.com, plus one writer from InQuest magazine. We posed these 16 voters a simple question: Which player has the best combination of talent and personality?

The writers then had to pick five names from the following list:

Osyp Lebedowicz, Brian Kibler, Gabe Walls, Jeff Cunningham, Craig Krempels, Tim Aten, Neil Reeves, Olivier Ruel, Antoine Ruel, Marc Zajdner, Nic West, Sam Gomersall, Jeroen Remie, Masashi Oiso, Paul Rietzl, Antonino De Rosa, Rich Hoaen

Each of the 16 voters ranked their top five selections, with five points going for a first-place pick, four points for second place, and so on. Listed below are the final results, links to each writer's ballot and a breakdown of each ballot.
