Ask Wizards is a weekly feature that allows you to ask us questions! If you'd like to submit your question please email it to AskWizards@wizards.com. We aren't able to answer every question we receive but if your question is good then it might show up in the coming weeks!

Q: Does Ash Zealot stop my Golgari opponents from using scavenge cards?

Ash Zealot

A: No, activating scavenge does not cause the player to play the card it is on. Rather, it is an activated ability that exiles the card, thus bypassing Ash Zealot.

Q: What exactly is design space?

A: Mark Rosewater, Head Magic Designer

It's how much room there is within any one mechanic to make cards. Limited design space might mean there are only ten to twenty cards that can be designed with a certain mechanic. A large design space could possibly support hundreds or thousands of cards.

This question was originally answered on Mark's Tumblr .
