Boss Jund

A couple weeks ago, Tom Ross (AKA The Boss) wrote an article advocating Jund in Born of the Gods Standard. He tuned the deck, made the mana more manageable, and came out with an excellent-looking final product.

Gone are the Stormbreath Dragons and Anger of the Gods from Matt Costa's winning Jund deck from November, all in an effort to make the deck more consistent. It seems to have worked, as the deck has been popping up in various tournaments on Magic Online, including this 4–0 deck from TBxGreenguy.

This deck does a lot of what Mono-Black Devotion does, just in a different way. Cards like Pack Rat and Gray Merchant of Asphodel are frequently great, but they make for poor topdecks when you're losing the attrition war. This deck is based on power instead of synergy, so the typical topdeck in the late game is going to be better on average.

I know that plenty of players out there would like to have their powerful Jund deck back. While this isn't exactly the same thing, those players will feel at home with this deck.
