Brave the Elements

One of the most powerful cards to build a deck around in Standard is Brave the Elements. For a single white mana to provide protection to all of your white creatures is extremely effective and versatile. While the normal-use case is getting your creatures through any blockers, Brave the Elements is also good at protecting your creatures from cards such as Anger of the Gods or the monstrous ability of Polukranos, World Eater.

The biggest issue with Brave the Elements is that you have to build your creature base to include nearly all white creatures. This deck takes the straightforward approach, and plays as many one- and two-mana cards as possible. In fact, only a pair of Banisher Priests cost more than two mana in the entire main deck! This allows the deck to play a very low land count while still including Mutavault. A whopping 20 one-mana creatures allow the deck to get off to some fast starts, and Brave the Elements is one of the best ways to sneak through the last points of damage.
