In this Latest Developments article, Sam Stoddard talked about how core sets contain cards that hint at what is coming in future blocks. One such "plant" card in Magic 2014 is Ajani's Chosen, who can be quite powerful once the full Theros block is unleashed upon it.
The core synergy with Ajani's Chosen comes from the removal suite, Banishing Light and Detention Sphere. These two enchantments are some of Standard's most powerful removal spells, and getting a 2/2 on top of that is powerful. Outside of this core synergy, there are many aggressive, disruptive creatures like Keening Apparition and Lyev Skyknight to help keep an opponent off balance.
