Dragonmaster Jund

Luis Scott-Vargas plays, writes, and makes videos about Magic. He has played on the Pro Tour for almost a decade, and between that and producing content for ChannelFireball, often has his hands full (of cards).

If you want an interesting Dragon-related Standard deck, there's no better source than Brian Kibler. He recently built an aggressive Jund deck, which he not only played at GP Miami, but also has been streaming.

Thundermaw Hellkite

The deck eschews playing all the removal that normal Jund plays, instead rocking the full set of Thundermaw Hellkites, Falkenrath Aristocrats, Flinthoof Boars, and Strangleroot Geists, along with a couple Varolz, the Scar-Striped for the late game. It still runs some removal, with the full complement of Bonfire of the Damned packing the most punch.

I like that this deck not only can curve out well but has a bunch of relevant internal synergies. Strangleroot Geist combines well with Falkenrath Aristocrat and Varolz, and Varolz lets you spend a ton of mana while not casting a spell, in order to flip Huntmaster of the Fells. I also like that it has sixteen haste creatures, which means sorcery-speed removal is much less effective than it would be normally. In fact, even something like Supreme Verdict is almost irrelevant here, being unable to kill half the creatures and getting hit by the other half before being able to kill them.

The sideboard is also pretty nice, with a sick anti-control package of Ruric Thar and Domri Rade, both of which are incredibly effective against removal-heavy decks. I also like the Rolling Temblors and Olivia Voldarens against the fast decks, since this deck can morph into midrange control fairly easily.
