A few month ago, I played a game of Commander against David Williams, and I was amazed as he crushed me with a deck featuring such Commander staples as Shanodin Dryads and Grayscaled Gharial.

Edric, Spymaster of Trest

I don't understand sharing casual Commander decklists. To some extent, I can understand building a deck that's just a collection of your favorite cards, or the best cards you own, and I can respect how that leads to a fun casual format, but I just don't see how it's helpful to others to share that list.

I'll be featuring Commander lists periodically, but they'll generally be somewhat toward the competitive end of what might be acceptable for a game of Commander, because I can't really appreciate a deck unless it's trying to do something as well as possible.

This deck is built to exploit Edric, Spymaster of Trest, and it does an excellent job of it. It's noteworthy because it manages to be phenomenally powerful without playing many of the obvious best cards, and it ignores most typical strategies for building a competitive Commander deck.

Instead of ramping up to big spells, which I've found to be a traditionally effective strategy, this deck just plays as many cheap creatures as possible in order to draw cards with Edric. As many of those cards as possible include the phrase "extra turn," so each attack step can find another card like that, which will let you take yet another turn... so the deck actually plays like a combo deck, with just enough disruption in the form of cheap counterspells to ensure that its plan is safe.
