An Emerging Hero?

From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

Narrowly missing out on the Top 8 of a Pro Tour can be a mixed blessing. While you miss out on the Sunday Stage, which can be disappointing, a finish just outside the Top 8 still provides a Pro Tour invitation, a handful of Pro Points, and a nice prize payout as a consolation.

Hero of Iroas

Jared Boettcher has experienced this near miss two Pro Tours in a row. After a 9th-place finish at Pro Tour Born of the Gods, Jared nearly duplicated the feat, finishing in 10th place at Pro Tour Journey into Nyx. With two excellent Pro Tours, Jared finds himself comfortably in the lead of the Rookie of the Year race. If Jared's lead holds, he will be invited to the World Championship later this year.

His Constructed deck of choice was a WU Heroic deck with some unconventional card choices. Aqueous Form, Battlewise Hoplite, and Ordeal of Thassa are not cards that were expected to make the leap to Constructed, but Jared found a way to make a high-synergy deck using unexpected cards. Making a large creature quickly is easy for this deck, and there are cards like Gods Willing and Ajani's Presence to protect them.
