A Full Moon Over Legacy

I've seen some crazy things happen in Legacy, but a deck with eight Werewolves might just take the cake (and devour it messily). Optimis344 played this deck in a Magic Online event and, I assume, flipped some Werewolves on the way to a 3–1 finish.

The deck has many elements of the classic Dragon Stompy deck, which uses a combination of Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, Trinisphere, Phyrexian Revoker, and Chalice of the Void to disrupt opponents. Ancient Tomb, City of Traitors, Simian Spirit Guide, and Chrome Mox all lead to casting a Chalice for one or a three-drop on turn one or two, and ideally both.

Once you move past the disruption things get hairy. Four Hanweir Watchkeep and four Instigator Gang represent a bulk of this deck's threats, and both are in the deck in order to take advantage of an opponent who can't cast spells. Flipping a Werewolf should be trivial, and both wolves are incredibly large when flipped. Even if the opponent is lucky enough to be able to play cards, this deck can just take a turn off in order to upgrade its forces. Rakka Mar also makes a good backup, summoning wave after wave of Elementals to crush the enemy.

The deck has only the lightest touch of actual removal, with two Mizzium Mortars and one Umezawa's Jitte able to interact with cards in play, along with the Phyrexian Revokers mentioned above. The main plan is to stop the opponent from casting anything, and that's something this deck is very capable of doing.

I've never seen a Werewolf flipped in Legacy, but this deck may soon change that.
