Ghosts of Standard's Past

From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

Last year, one of the strongest decks involved Cartel Aristocrat and sacrificing creatures, such as Doomed Traveler, to gain value with Blood Artist. Doomed Traveler and Blood Artist aren't Standard legal anymore, but there are still some quality creatures that require some sacrifices to be made.

Cartel Aristocrat and Varolz, the Scar-Striped are powerful cards if you have a stream of creatures available, while Precinct Captain and Xathrid Necromancer can provide those creatures. Mix in some powerful creatures such as Obzedat, Ghost Council and some efficient removal spells in Abrupt Decay and Hero's Downfall and you have a powerful, synergistic Standard deck.
