Purphoros demands devotion to red. As it turns out, so do many of the other gods on Theros. Keranos, God of Storms also takes advantage of devotion to red, giving a red devotion deck a heavy incentive to find as many red mana symbols on permanents as possible.

Keranos, God of Storms

This deck accommodates the need for red mana symbols with many different color-intense cards. Ash Zealot, Burning-Tree Emissary, Frostburn Weird, and Hammer of Purphoros provide a good base of permanents from which to draw devotion from. If this sounds similar to the red devotion decks that have been around since Pro Tour Theros, that because it is!

The new twist on the deck comes from the blue splash, primarily enabled by Keranos, God of Storms. The other blue cards come in the form of support spells such as Turn & Burn and Cyclonic Rift, which function as the creature removal in this deck. One truly exciting addition is Ral Zarek, who conveniently has the ability to untap Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. As Voyaging Satyr can tell you, that is quite a bit of mana!
