When Gavin Verhey was eleven, he dreamt of a job making Magic cards—and now as a Magic designer, he's living his dream! Gavin has been writing about Magic since 2005.

As the Modern PTQ scene continues to develop, players are finding exciting new ways to merge eras of Magic. In a recent Magic Online PTQ, HotGoblin1 provided a new spin on a deck that briefly showed up in Extended last year: Green-White Summoning Trap. Merging the best elements of that deck with the power of Through the Breach, HotGoblin1 added extra consistency to a deck that was already quite explosive!

How can Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Birds of Paradise fit together in the same deck? With this deck, the name of the game is finding ways to sneak an Emrakul onto the battlefield, and as you'll soon find out there are plenty of ways to cheat out the 15/15 Eldrazi.

The two most obvious ways to achieve an Eldrazi attack in this deck is to use Summoning Trap or Through the Breach. Full of plenty of acceleration like Birds of Paradise and Lotus Cobra, this deck can hardcast one of those two cards as early as turn three. Either of those cards make it easy for an Emrakul or "merely" a Terastodon to come out to play.

While obvious, those ways aren't even the most deadly. This deck makes use of the Lorwyn hideaway lands Windbrisk Heights and Mosswort Bridge as another method to get out its fatties. Between 0/1 attackers and the quickly-growing Knight of the Reliquary, the hideaway conditions are easy for this deck to meet. Best of all, when you play a card off of a hideaway land you get to cast it—thanks for the extra turn, Emrakul!

In case your opponent comes packing hate, this deck isn't a one-trick pony either. It's full of viable beatdown cards, so if your opponents spend too much time stopping your combo, Knight of the Reliquary and Primeval Titan might just run them over!

If putting Emrakul onto the battlefield on turn three sounds fun, this might be the deck for you. The Modern world continues to grow—give it a try at a Pro Tour Avacyn Restored PTQ near you!
