Young Pyromancer

Modern is home to many cheap, efficient instants and sorceries. Lightning Bolt, Serum Visions, and Remand provide effective ways to take control of the early stages of the game without losing their effectiveness as the game wears on. Magic Online user MR_Thompson takes advantage of these with creatures that want a number of spells to be played. Each creature in the deck gets stronger as the number of instants and sorceries grows.

This deck also uses its sideboard well to shore up different matchups without changing the core of the deck. Molten Rain is a perfect example. Molten Rain is effective against Urza's Tower and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, while still allowing this deck to maintain its high spell count and positive tempo. Shattering Spree gives additional fuel against Cranial Plating and friends while Combust is strong against Deceiver Exarch and Pestermite.
