Return of the Blood Witch

Despite Rakdos Aggro winning a Standard Grand Prix in this format, it's received very little press. Some updated versions have been popping up on Magic Online lately and they look pretty good.

Of course, some of that has to do with the deck incorporating a couple of Mono-Black Devotion's tricks, such as Pack Rat. Considering how easy it is to win games with an uncontested turn-two Pack Rat, you'd think that it would start showing up in a more aggressive deck, but so far that hasn't been the case.

Ironclawish decided to do just that, although sadly could only fit two Mutavaults in a mana base that is also trying to cast Spike Jester and Dreadbore. That makes the Pack Rats less threatening than Mono-Black's, but they are still very powerful.

Decks like Zombies used to top off their aggressive curve with a plethora of haste creatures, and Ironclawish does the same here. That sort of hard-hitting top end is super difficult to deal with, no matter what deck you're playing. It wouldn't surprise me if some finely tuned Rakdos Aggro decks started making a comeback, even if it is just on the back of Pack Rat.
