Shards of Alara sees a return of one of Magic's most favorite creatures: Grizzly Bears! Of course, a quick review of Gatherer will reveal there is no actual card named Grizzly Bears in the set, so what's the deal? The phrase "Grizzly Bears" is actually a term of endearment for any 2/2 creature that costs 1C, a generic mana and a specific colored mana. The term dates back all the way to Alpha where the actual Grizzly Bears saw print; from that point onwards any creature that was functionally identical to the Bears was referred to by the same name. Players often use Gray Ogre and Hill Giant to refer to 2/2s for 2C and 3/3s for 3C in a similar manner. So, welcome to Cylian Elf, Shards of Alara's very own Grizzly Bears, and enjoy this deck which features every "Grizzly Bear" the game has ever seen!
