In celebration of Rerun Week, Daily Decks brings you Turbo Stasis! Played by present Wizards R&D member Matt Place to a U.S. Nationals Top 8 berth in 1996, Turbo Stasis was a critical development in the world of competitive Magic. The deck sought to out-metagame the field, performing very well against the Necrodecks that were so popular in the day. Howling Mine netted Matt plenty of extra cards, and when his opponent was least expecting it, he'd drop Stasis to lock up the game. After paying for the enchantment for turn after turn, Matt would bounce the Stasis back to his hand, reset his mana while his opponent stayed tapped out, and rerun the same Stasis right back onto the field. The deck also marked one of the first cross-continental efforts by professional players with Matt getting the idea for the deck from friends in Europe.
