May 23-25, 2008: Gindy Puts Name in Lights

Charles Gindy, welcome to Hollywood...a land where dreams come true and stars are made. The 22-year-old American, who has been playing Magic for half his life, became Tinseltown’s latest break-out performer when he swept Jan Ruess in the Pro Tour–Hollywood finals.

Gindy, who said he had been dreaming of playing in a Top 8 ever since he started playing Magic, received a fortune cookie the Saturday of the Pro Tour, saying "You’ll make a name for yourself." Behind a stellar supporting cast of Garruk Wildspeaker, Chameleon Colossus, Imperious Perfect, and a host of Elves, Gindy overwhelmed Ruess’s Merfolk to take home the champion’s trophy and the $40,000 first prize.
