Tempest Release Events

On Monday, December 8 at 12:00 pm PDT, Tempest goes on sale in the Magic Online store.

NOTE: Tempest becomes legal in ALL Classic-based Constructed formats the day it goes on sale (December 8). The Classic-based formats are Classic, Tribal Wars (Classic), Classic with Vanguard, Prismatic, 100-Card Singleton, Pauper, and Freeform.

Tempest boosters will replace the existing prizes in all regular, non-release classic-based constructed queues and daily events starting on Friday, December 12 at 12:00 pm PDT.

Casual Drafts

On Monday December 8, players will be able to play in casual Tempest drafts in the newly created "Casual Draft" room. These drafts will charge 0 tix, have 0 k-value, and will not pay prizes. Queues will be set up for 4, 6, and 8 players.

Tempest Release events begin Wednesday, December 10 and will have 3 components:

Single Elimination Draft Queues
Swiss Draft Queues
"Top 8" Sealed Premier Events & Tempest Release Sealed Championship

Booster prizes for all Release Events will be Tempest Boosters.

Tempest Single Elimination Draft Queues

QUEUES BEGIN: Wednesday, December 10 after the downtime.

FORMATS: Single Elimination Booster Draft

PRODUCT: 3 Tempest Boosters

ADMISSION: 2 Tix, Product

PRIZE SUPPORT: 4-3-2-2 and 8-4

The winner of each Tempest Draft will get an Eladamri, Lord of Leaves avatar.

Release event drafts will end on Monday, December 22 at 10 am PDT.

Tempest Swiss Draft Queues

QUEUES BEGIN: Wednesday, December 10 after the downtime.

FORMATS: Swiss Booster Draft

PRODUCT: 3 Tempest Boosters

ADMISSION: 2 Tix, Product

PRIZE SUPPORT: 3-2-1 (I pack per win)

The winner of each Tempest Draft will get an Eladamri, Lord of Leaves avatar.

Release event drafts will end on Monday, December 22 at 10 am PDT.

Tempest "Top 8" Sealed Premier Events

DURATION: December 12, 10:00 am – December 19, 10:00 am (last starts at 10:00 am). "Top 8" Sealed Premier Events start every 5 hours. Each event will have a minimum of 32 players, maximum of 128 players.

FORMAT: Sealed w/top 8 booster draft. The booster draft format will be 3 Tempest Boosters.

PRODUCT: 1 Tempest Tournament Pack & 3 Tempest Booster Packs.

ADMISSION: 4 Tix, Product

PRIZE SUPPORT: Prizes paid as follows:

All who participate in a "Top 8" Sealed Premier Event will get an Eladamri, Lord of Leaves avatar. Top 8 will get a Tradewind Rider avatar. In addition, the Top 8 finishers will qualify for the Tempest Sealed Release Event Championship.

NOTE: The regularly schedule downtime will still take place on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:00 am PST. There will be no Premier Events starting from 12:00am-12:00 pm on December 17.

Tempest Release Sealed Championship

START TIME: December 20, 9:00 am PST

FORMAT: Sealed w/top 8 booster draft. The booster draft format will be 3 Tempest Boosters.

PRODUCT: 1 Tempest Tournament Pack & 3 Tempest Booster Packs.

ADMISSION: FREE – (No Tix, No Product, Invitation only)

The winner of the Championship will also receive a complete set of Magic Online Premium Tempest cards.

Second place will receive a complete set of regular Magic Online Tempest cards.

Although players may have multiple accounts qualified for any Tempest Championship event, players are not permitted to have more than 1 of their accounts entered in the event. Players are not permitted to have secondary accounts played by another person. If a player is discovered to have more than 1 account playing in the Championship before, during, or after the event, appropriate penalties will be applied (including disqualification from the event with no refund of product or event tickets).

A list of all players that have qualified for the Tempest Championships will be maintained on the Wizards of the Coast web site. Players will be registered into the championship after the downtime on Wednesday December 17 and every morning thereafter. It will be the player's responsibility to make sure that they have been properly entered into this event and are able to join it PRIOR to the start of the Championship. If a player is qualified and is unable to join the championship, they will need to contact customer service to get this corrected.
