From Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, Adam Prosak loves all types of tournament Magic. Currently, Adam is working in R&D as a developer.

With each core set, exciting reprints are unleashed onto the Standard environment. Magic 2015 continues this tradition, with many cards that have tournament pedigree. This week, Daily Decks will look at these cards, and the successful tournament decks that allowed these cards to shine in the spotlight.

Pro Tour Berlin in 2008 was dominated by one deck—Elves. A whopping six of the Top 8 decks were elf decks—no other Pro Tour has been so dominated by a single deck before or after Pro Tour Berlin. Five of these decks featured Chord of Calling, a Magic 2015 reprint that highlights the convoke mechanic.

This deck is fueled by Glimpse of Nature, which is currently banned in Modern in part due to decks like this. By chaining through a bunch of cheap Elves, Glimpse of Nature can draw dozens of cards in a single turn, using Nettle Sentinel in combination with Birchlore Rangers or Heritage Druid to generate mana while doing so. This ended in a variety of kill cards. Predator Dragon, Mirror Entity, and Grapeshot were all used among Top 8 competitors as a finishing kill.
